Devlog #3: The Finish Line
HEKA Devlog #3
And just like that, the month of October was over. Tomorrow is the last day of the month, meaning submissions end very soon. Let me share with you what's going on.
HEKA is at a point where I am satisfied enough to submit it to the Game Jam, however, it's life cycle will continue on past that here and on Steam where I will continue to add new content and improve the stuff that already exists. An exciting but intimidating venture for sure, this is my first piece of work I will be publicly submitting and feel confident that the current state of HEKA is the groundwork of something that can become even bigger and better provided more time.
I have, however, encountered an issue. The game size currently stands at 1.32 GB (even after compression with 7Zip), which means I cannot upload the current build to Itch.io, trying to use the Dropbox feature also results in an error. I have contacted Itch.io requesting more space though I am unsure how quickly this issue will be resolved.
Well, you may ask why don't people just download it on Steam and play it there? Well there comes the second problem, I'm currently working with Steamworks and finishing up the pre-launch checklist. After this is completed, Valve needs 1-3 business days to ensure the game is in-fact playable and up to their standards. Only then can it be officially published and download via Steam.
Regardless of whether or not it is able to be submitted in time, I had a blast participating and I hope you'll follow the great journey of Early Access on Steam!
