Devlog #2: The Half-Way Mark

HEKA Devlog #2
Wow! Another week has already passed, there are 17 days left for the Game Jam so here's a progress update! The biggest change to the build since the last update is the map that I have continued to build for the initial release! I've expanded the level by almost double the amount since the last devlog and a lot of it is still a work in progress.

I still have a fair bit of time to finish a lot of this up so I'm pretty sure I will have something to present and submit! The monster's AI still needs a little bit of work, but thankfully a lot of it's code can be used elsewhere. The maps, sounds, and general polish are things that need work the most and that's where I'm currently at.

An update with Steamworks: I've also been hard at work developing the Steam Store page for HEKA and I've been learning a lot with the help from the lovely people at Valve. With the way the publishing process works on Steam, the game may launch later there than the deadline of the Game Jam. Typically it takes 2-3 days for them to review the store page to ensure it's up to their standards (and to provide feedback on how to change it if it's not). Then you have to wait at least two weeks before your game can actually be officially released, it has to have the "Coming Soon" title. Finally after that you have to wait another few days as they playtest the build of your game to make sure it actually works, and isn't some kind of scam. That being said, I've been hard at work trying to ensure the store page is up to their standards! So I apologize if the game launches a little bit later over there, however, you'll be able to download it here on Itch.io as soon as I finish!

That's all for now! Thank you for stopping in, I'll be posting again soon!
