Devlog #1: One Week Later

HEKA Devlog #1
Hello again everyone! The first week of the Game Jam has passed and juggling development with hobbies and my full time job is tough, but I'm making good progress! It's pretty clear that for this game jam I'm probably going to have to tone down my ideas, however, I am in the process of working on a Steam Store Page! There you'll be able to download the game for free, keep it in your steam library where I will most likely continue to update HEKA until I'm satisfied with it's progress!

So what am I cutting out for the Game Jam? Well I got around to building one of the first real levels for the game and it was taking quite awhile! I spent a lot of the day working on the first few rooms to make them feel populated and real, while also trying to get the lighting right and conveying story bits through the scenery. My original plan was to launch the game in the Game Jam with five whole maps that would be randomly selected! But it's pretty clear it would be more beneficial for me to make one or two maps for the Game Jam; then add the rest once the month is over!

That being said I've been making good progress on a lot of the sounds, physics and basic coding needed for the game to function properly in the levels. No more flying around while standing on top of physics objects! I'll be trying to publish something within a week or so to get all of my little peeps to test it out and really break the game so I can fix any issues there might be, I can also get a decent scope of the system requirements this way.

The entire main menu is completed too, save for the credits which will be added toward the end of the project!

I'll post another update when I make substantial progress to do so!
